Murals are more than just some coloured paints brushed on a wall. They are a fantastic way to add interest, creativity, productivity, energy and interest to a space.

Colour affects the way we behave, colour can help us regulate or stimulate;calm greens and cool blues to energetic oranges

Murals in spaces with high traffic can be very impactful.

I have been asked increasingly to quote murals therefore I thought it be helpful to set out some price guidelines.

Mural prices differ depending on these key details:

Size, Detail, Surface and Access

Why size?
Bigger murals require not just more paint but also more time to complete. Also brings in the element of access and if scaffold is required.

Why Detail?

More detail on the design the more time spent. Less detail, less time on the mural.

Why Surface:
Flat smooth plastered/ rendered surfaces are easier to work on than others such as pebble dash, getting clean lines on these surfaces differ and so does the technique to achieve these as well as quantity of material to cover the increased surface area of textured walls.

Why Accessibility?
How tall is tgr mural, will scaffolding need to be used? Times for access limited to complete the job- opening hours.

As you can see there are many variants that come into pricing a mural.

Murals pricing per square meter instead of a day rate means it is clear and transparent for both myself and commissioners.

Size:
Price per square meter
£80-£150 depending on level of detail and
Surface
Coverage can be not full coverage but half of even a motif or single animal

£80 is blocks of colour design- £150 is details like fur and feathers and patterns in animals in a design

Access, materials and consumables are additional to these prices

Within the price this includes:

Site visit

Liaison with the commissioner about the design and what they would like included.

A desigh with two revisions. Any more revisions requires more time therefore will mean an additional design fee.

Once agreed on a design any amendments to the work while in progress will require an additional fee which will be agreed before amendments are started.
